Fram
Privacy policy
Effective 2026-10-24
Fram is designed to keep your training personal. This policy explains what the app uses, where it stays, and the choices you have.
Your data stays on your device
Fram stores your workouts, cardio sessions, history, routines, profile, body measurements, and other training data on your device. App preferences are kept in the device's standard settings store. While completing an authorised Apple Health write, an on-device queue can hold that pending copy. There is no Fram account to create, and no Fram server receives your training data.
Fram does not provide cloud sync. Device backups and Apple Health syncing are separate Apple services controlled by your device settings and Apple's policies. Values Fram reads from Apple Health and you accept are kept in a separate file on your device that is excluded from device backups (see Apple Health below).
Apple Health
Only with your permission, Fram uses Apple HealthKit to read date of birth, biological sex, height, and body mass to help fill in your profile. Fram uses your birth year to calculate age. It can also read heart rate and active energy to show context for a session, and walking or running, cycling, downhill-skiing, and swimming distance to help fill in a cardio record.
Heart rate and active energy are shown but never stored. Profile details, body mass, and a distance you accept from Apple Health are kept on your iPhone only, in a file excluded from iCloud and computer backups, and are not part of Fram's main database. If you restore a backup to a new iPhone, Fram reads them again from Apple Health once you allow it (Settings › Apple Health › Fill from Health); your workouts themselves are in the backup as usual.
If you connect workout sharing in Settings and grant permission, Fram can save finished strength, mobility, and cardio workouts to Apple Health, including cardio distance and recorded routes when available. Connecting shares future workouts and resumes pending updates; it does not add your earlier history automatically. Turning sharing off pauses pending updates and leaves existing Apple Health entries in place. Health data is handled through Apple's Health store under Apple's rules. Fram does not use Health or Motion data for advertising, marketing, or sale, and does not send it to Fram servers.
You choose which Health data Fram may read and write. You can review or change these permissions in Apple Health or iOS Settings. You can use Fram without granting Health access.
Location and routes
When you choose to record an outdoor session and allow location access, Fram uses your location to draw your route and calculate distance, pace, and elevation. It can continue recording location in the background only while an authorised recorded session is active. Route data is stored on your device.
Motion and fitness data
With your permission, Fram uses device motion and fitness data, including pedometer distance and relative altitude, to support distance and elevation measurements during sessions you start. Pedometer distance is also captured during indoor treadmill sessions. The resulting session data stays on your device.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Fram schedules local notifications on your device. It does not use a notification service or send reminder information to a server.
No sign-up, advertising, or sale of data
Fram has no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell your data. This website also sets no cookies and loads no third-party resources.
Diagnostics
Fram keeps a limited number of crash, performance, and storage-error reports on your device to help investigate problems. Fram does not automatically upload these reports. Diagnostics that you choose to share with Apple through iOS or TestFlight are handled by Apple under its own settings and policies.
Purchases
Fram Pro is an optional one-time purchase made through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; Fram never receives your payment details or Apple Account information. The app checks whether Pro is unlocked with the App Store on your device and does not send that information to Fram.
Support requests
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, such as a screenshot or the in-app diagnostics report. The diagnostics report is shown to you in full before you share it and contains app, iOS, and device versions, record counts, and the type of recent storage or crash events, but no workout contents, names, notes, Health values, locations, or routes. We use support messages only to answer them, keep them no longer than needed to resolve your request and any follow-up, and never sell them or add you to a mailing list. Ask us at any time to delete your messages.
Medical disclaimer
Fram offers training guidance, not medical advice. Check with a health professional before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have a medical condition or an old injury that still makes itself known. Start at a pace that feels right for you, and give yourself room to adjust as you go. Read this note on the Fram home page.
Exporting your data
Export happens only when you ask for it. Fram creates a backup or GPX route file (or, after Fram had to set an unreadable data file aside, a recovery package) on your device and presents Apple's save or share controls. The file goes only where you choose to send or save it. A backup file leaves out values that came from Apple Health unless you choose to include them when you export; Fram asks first and explains that the file will then contain that health information. Because these files can contain health information, Fram suggests keeping them on your iPhone or your own computer rather than in a cloud storage service.
Deleting the app
Deleting Fram removes its local app data; offloading the app keeps that data. Workouts already saved to Apple Health remain there unless you delete them in Apple Health. Exported files and device backups are managed separately in the destinations and Apple settings you chose.
Changes to this policy
If Fram's data practices change, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
