What's free and what's in Fram Pro

Fram is free to download and has no sign-up, ads, or subscription. The free app includes:

  • All strength, mobility, and cardio logging, including recorded outdoor routes.
  • Your full workout history and personal records.
  • The exercise library with written cues, and demonstrations where available.
  • Apple Health connection, data export, and import.
  • Up to three custom routines.

Fram Pro is a single one-time purchase that adds multi-week Programs, unlimited custom routines, and advanced progress charts. The price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.

Buying and restoring Fram Pro

Fram Pro is bought through the App Store with your Apple Account. Fram never sees your payment details.

Restore Purchases

On a new iPhone, after reinstalling, or if Pro doesn't appear unlocked, open Fram and go to Settings › Fram Pro › Restore Purchases. The same button is also at the bottom of the Fram Pro screen. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to buy Pro. You won't be charged again.

If a purchase is pending or fails

Some purchases wait for approval, for example with Ask to Buy. Pro unlocks automatically once the App Store approves it. If a purchase fails, nothing is charged; try again when you're online.

Pro works offline

Once bought, Pro stays unlocked without an internet connection.

Refunds

Apple handles all App Store payments, so refunds are requested from Apple, not from Fram. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose the Fram Pro purchase. Apple decides refund requests under its own policies.

If a refund is granted, Pro features lock again. Changing Pro access never deletes anything you created: your workouts, routines, and Programs stay on your iPhone and remain in your exports.

Backups, export, and import

Fram keeps your training on your iPhone. It has no cloud sync, so a backup is worth keeping.

  • Export: Settings › Data › Export data saves a JSON file of your workouts, cardio, routines, Programs, profile, and body measurements. You choose where it goes. We suggest keeping it On My iPhone in Files or on your own computer (AirDrop it to a Mac, for example). An export can contain values from Apple Health, so Fram doesn't suggest saving it to a cloud storage service.
  • Import: Settings › Data › Import data merges a previous export. Records you already have are not duplicated, and a damaged file is rejected without changing your existing data.
  • Routes: open a recorded cardio session in History and choose Export GPX.
  • Device backups: your iPhone's own iCloud or computer backup can include Fram's data, according to your device settings. Restoring a device backup restores Fram as it was when that backup was made.

Exported files and recovery packages can contain sensitive health information, notes, and routes. Fram never uploads them; store and share them with care, and only with people you choose.

If Fram says it started fresh

If Fram can't open its data file, for example after the storage was damaged, it moves that file aside, keeps it on your iPhone whenever possible, and starts with an empty file so you can keep training. Settings shows a notice when this happens.

  1. Keep Fram installed. The set-aside copy lives inside the app; deleting Fram deletes it.
  2. Open Settings › Recovered data. This section appears while a set-aside file is still on your iPhone.
  3. Prepare recovery package, then Share recovery package. The package holds the original file, a READ ME, and a backup of every record Fram can still read. You choose where it goes: save it On My iPhone in Files, or send it to your own computer (AirDrop to a Mac, for example). It can contain values from Apple Health, so Fram doesn't suggest a cloud storage service.
  4. Restore readable records adds the records Fram could read back into the app. It only adds what's missing; it never overwrites or duplicates anything you've logged since starting fresh. If this version of Fram couldn't read the file, the button isn't shown; keep the package, because a later version or support may be able to recover it.
  5. Import your latest export from Settings › Data › Import data, if you have one, to fill any gaps. Records you already have are not duplicated.
  6. Contact support with a diagnostics report (Settings › Support › Diagnostics report). It tells us the app version and storage state without including your workouts. Don't send the recovery package unless support asks for it.
  7. As a last resort, restoring an iPhone backup made before the problem returns Fram to that point, but it also restores the rest of your device.

Health, Location, Motion, and notifications

Every permission is optional. Fram works for logging without any of them.

Apple Health

Fram can read profile details, body mass, heart rate, active energy, and activity distance to fill in your profile and add workout context. To save finished workouts to Health, connect workout sharing in Settings › Apple Health. Review or change access in the Health app: tap your profile picture, then Apps, then Fram. Apple doesn't tell apps when read access is turned off, so missing readings may simply mean access is off.

Location

Location is used only for outdoor sessions you start, to record your route, distance, pace, and elevation, including while the screen is locked. Recording stops when you finish or discard the session. Change it in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Fram. Without location, you can still log cardio by hand.

Motion & Fitness

Motion data adds pedometer distance and elevation context during sessions you start, including treadmill sessions. Change it in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness.

Notifications

Workout reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. Choose days and times in Fram's Settings › Reminders, and allow or block them in iOS Settings › Notifications › Fram.

Your data and privacy

Fram has no sign-up, advertising, or analytics, it doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and no Fram server receives your training data. Your records stay on your iPhone unless you export them, share a recovery package, or share workouts with Apple Health. Read the full privacy policy.
